Sticks and Stones

"Looks like it’s time to implement Hitler’s Final Solution against anyone in Singapore who wasn’t born here. And no, this isn’t sarcasm. I have heard people on there street talking about ways to kill foreigners. I think a tipping point has been reached for Singapore regarding the foreigner problem. Time for them to go…or die."

And people think I exaggerate when I talk about racism.

I don't blame Singapore or Singaporeans at all.  I am applying to be a PR and I'm proud of it.  My best friends are beautiful, kind Singaporeans and I strongly believe that all races have equal value because the many different races and nationalities I have seen in Singapore have also shown me  some of the best and worst that they have to offer.  There have been good and bad and nice and not quite people from all races and by showing that everyone can be bad, the converse means that every race has good people too and that we really are all the same and that no one is inferior or superior or whatnot.

//end of run on sentence *deep breath*

It's like we never learned from Hitler and his insanity.  It's so silly how so much bigotry and hate can exist in an already increasingly connected world.  Maybe it's because now that we're all so familiar, familiarity breeds contempt or that the fight for scarce resources in a world of unlimited want pulls out the worst from us - or maybe at the heart of this flat world, you can educate someone out of poverty or ignorance, but only with much difficulty can you reason a person out of human irrationality.
