You should definitely go to Resorts World Manila.

I'm just saying.

It's a really beautiful place with a lovely church that has these jumongous stained glass windows.  See?

That black shadow in the middle is me.  My mum wanted to achieve this peacock effect, so it kiiind of works.

The hotels, of course, live up to their international standard, but I can't comment on the casino because I'm too young (although my mum wanted to bring me in just to see what it looks like and the cool live band inside that you could hear from the door) so if anyone out there over 21 knows, don't tell me until I'm older.  I think gambling is silly and boring, but the secrecy makes it that much cooler to watch in two year.

The best part, of course, was the Saturday special performance.  It's this insane mix of traditional fiesta parades, acrobatics, magic shows, amazing singers (we're a country full of those), hula-hoopers (if that's what they're called), street dance champions, and lots more.  It's a great place for young kids, I must say, except for the horrible indoor smoking they allow at certain points.  My spider senses tell me it is time for a strongly worded letter to their management so let's see how that turns out. *chuckle*

It is always a painfully wondrous affair for me when I watch local performances.  Maybe it's because of the earthiness of raw talent?  I don't know.  I guess it bothers me that there are so many performers who are extremely talented, who practice hard, but who are going to get stuck here.  Like these boys who could flip as easily as they breathe and yet, they will probably never expand their art until it reaches something like what we'd see in Cirque du Soleil.  There were girls there who were brilliant traditional dancers. You could tell from how they raised their arms that they were innately graceful, but the position of their wrists and fingers told me of how they have had minimal formal training.  Such a pity and I wish they could get teachers who'll really sharpen the knife, so to speak.

Truth be told, I'm not criticising them. I want something better for them - for all of us from the Philippines.
