Cuppycake
Roomie, my mother and I went to Serendra for cupcakes and Brazilian and while on the car, I felt very uncomfortable at one point. Looking out, it was like a scene from of Stepford Wives: unnaturally straight rows of sculpted homes with perfectly polished facades. Beautiful international schools were nearby as was the commercial complex at the heart of the city. The utopia was frightening because of the very real possibility that a child could grow up in the Bonifacio Global City and never go out, completely unaware of the poverty right outside the city gates.
But that's a lot like many of us, I suppose, ensconced in our comfort - or maybe that's just me generalising. Cabbie says it's part of the feeling of the non-you in the environment, but I couldn't capture the exact way he said it. Maybe that's something I have to find a way to incorporate into my future physics classes: social awareness, however little.
I'll stop rambling now, but mark my words, I'll do something about it one day *bow*
